Helldivers 2 Update Introduces Long-Awaited Performance Enhancements

Arrowhead Studio has released a new patch for Helldivers 2, bringing essential performance upgrades and features that players have eagerly anticipated.

In the ongoing battle for Managed Democracy, Arrowhead Studio has rolled out a new patch for Helldivers 2, which introduces significant performance enhancements that players have been looking forward to. Patch 6.2.5 encompasses a range of improvements, including upscaling technologies and features aimed at reducing latency. The developers stated that these updates are crafted to ensure that players can maintain their focus even in the heat of chaotic battles. The detailed patch notes released on Steam provide insight into the changes. This patch was slightly delayed due to an unexpected submission issue that was beyond Arrowhead's control, originally slated for release on May 27. Developed in collaboration with Nixxes Software, the update now supports several upscaling technologies, including FSR 3.1.5, DLSS 4.5, and XeSS 3.0. Additionally, it adds Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for both the PS5 and PS5 Pro, along with Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for compatible devices, all aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience. Another important fix included in this patch addresses the problem where Helldivers were unable to manually scale small obstacles and ledges without triggering an auto-climb. This adjustment is expected to resolve vaulting issues in Helldivers 2. Moreover, Helldivers 2 is set to feature a crossover with Warhammer 40,000 through a Legendary Warbond later this year, fulfilling one of the most sought-after collaborations among fans. Game director Mikael Eriksson expressed enthusiasm about the synergy between the two franchises, noting that Arrowhead is filled with dedicated Warhammer enthusiasts. Key updates in Helldivers 2 patch 6.2.5 include: - Support for various upscalers: FSR 3.1.5 (with GPUs supporting FSR 4.0.3), DLSS 4.5, and XeSS 3.0. - Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for PS5 and PS5 Pro. - Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for supported devices, which can enhance performance by lowering shading rates in specific areas of the image, easing the GPU's workload. - Introduction of Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) on both PC and PS5, which has increased resolution to 1440p in the Performance preset for Xbox Series X and PS5, and also in Power Saver mode on PS5. - Addition of NVIDIA's Reflex technology for NVIDIA GPUs and AMD's Anti-Lag 2 for AMD GPUs. Fixes implemented in this update include: - Resolution of the climbing issue affecting Helldivers. - Correction of multiple rendering problems and an overall boost to performance and image quality across all platforms. - Inclusion of additional resolution options in display settings for monitors with diverse resolutions. - Enhancement of the high reflection setting's performance and improved VRAM management on PC for better performance on systems with limited VRAM. - The ability to invite non-friends through the social menus' recent tab, now sending a PSN system invite when both players are on PSN.
