LIVE: State of Play September 2026 — Gameplay, Trailers, and Major Announcements

The State of Play event is upon us, and we are here to provide live updates on all the significant gameplay reveals, trailers, and announcements as they unfold. The event is set to commence on September 3 at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm UK / 3pm CEST / 10pm JST. Sony has planned two consecutive State of Play broadcasts for today, which we will be streaming live. The first segment will showcase updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios along with third-party partners, culminating in an in-depth preview of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy finale, titled Revelation. Following that, we will dive into a second State of Play focused on Japanese and Asian game developers, featuring new gameplay insights and announcements. In anticipation of the event, we have published a piece detailing what to expect from PlayStation’s September 2026 showcase, filled with our predictions. Personally, I believe that Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could take center stage, especially since it has been a while since we received any updates on this title, making this State of Play an ideal platform for new information. Moreover, several PlayStation Studios have been relatively silent lately, including Media Molecule, known for Dreams and LittleBigPlanet, and Bend Studio, the team behind Days Gone. There’s also curiosity surrounding Firesprite’s Until Dawn 2 and Haven Studios’ Fairgame. Despite challenges in Sony’s live service strategy, Fairgame still appears to be in development. With just 30 minutes remaining until the State of Play begins, the livestream chat is already buzzing with #WeWantDestiny. This surge of Destiny fans isn’t surprising, especially in light of recent developments regarding the extraction shooter Marathon and Bungie’s shift away from Destiny 2. However, it seems unlikely that Sony will approve the development of Destiny 3, given the inherent risks and costs associated. That said, could Bungie have alternative Destiny content in development?
