First Major Cast Member Confirms Role in Grand Theft Auto 6, Breaking Rockstar's Marketing Mold
The first significant voice actor has acknowledged his participation in Grand Theft Auto 6, seemingly straying from Rockstar's stringent marketing guidelines.
The first notable cast member has publicly confirmed his role in Grand Theft Auto 6, appearing to step outside the confines of Rockstar's carefully controlled promotional strategy. Stephen Root, known for voicing characters like Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland in the animated series King of the Hill, shared details about his involvement in GTA 6 during a discussion with the Associated Press. "Yes, you will see me in it," he stated. "The release date, as far as I know, is November 19th. I believe my character was part of the initial GTA rollout nearly a year ago. There were too many fans who recognized my voice from King of the Hill, which might have spilled the beans early on." This reference pertains to the second GTA 6 trailer, which showcased a character that sounded remarkably like Root, prompting fans to connect the dots — and now it’s confirmed. This character is Brian Heder, a drug dealer and apparent boatyard proprietor, who is seen conversing with Jason about his rent. "Just go get me my cheques!" he yells as Jason heads indoors. In the recent Extended Look for GTA 6, Heder’s role expands, as he imparts advice to Jason. We also get a glimpse of his spouse, Lori Heder. According to Rockstar’s official description on the GTA 6 website: "Brian is a quintessential drug runner from the heyday of smuggling in the Keys. Still transporting goods through his boatyard with his third wife, Lori, Brian has been in the game long enough to delegate the tough tasks to others. "He’s allowing Jason to stay rent-free at one of his properties, on the condition that he assists with local shakedowns and occasionally drops by for Lori’s sangria." When asked about his experience working on GTA 6, Root expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I’m thrilled to be part of it. It’s a stunning project to behold," while clearly trying to avoid revealing too much information. Interestingly, Rockstar has not yet disclosed any actors involved in GTA 6, leaving fans to speculate about the cast. The identities of the game’s main characters, Jason and Lucia, remain a mystery, and it seems that the full cast won't be unveiled until the game launches in November, just as the credits roll. In the meantime, gamers can explore extensive coverage of GTA 6, including a revealing interview with Rockstar’s Rob Nelson discussing what to anticipate.
