Naughty Dog Plans Major Reveal for Intergalactic in 2027, No Release Date Yet

During this year's 'The Last of Us Day', Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog, shared important updates regarding the studio's future endeavors. He teased two new projects related to The Last of Us that aim to broaden the franchise's storyline beyond the events of Part I and Part II. However, he did not specify whether these projects would be video games. In a post on the Naughty Dog blog, Druckmann expressed gratitude towards fans for their contributions, which raised over $11,000 for AbleGamers. He then discussed the studio's current work, emphasizing that Naughty Dog is not finished with The Last of Us. He elaborated on the two new projects, stating, "We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II. The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling." Regarding the much-anticipated sci-fi title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Project, Druckmann mentioned that the studio would remain silent for the rest of the year. However, he assured fans that in 2027, they would fully unveil Intergalactic and provide a detailed look at the protagonist Jordan's thrilling space adventure. He referred to the project as Naughty Dog's most ambitious undertaking to date and encouraged fans to be patient, possibly addressing concerns from those disappointed by its absence from the recent Sony State of Play event. "There’s an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we’re stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory," he remarked. "But…we need to cook for just a little bit longer." Druckmann concluded his update by acknowledging the long wait for news, assuring fans, "We know it’s been a long time since we’ve had much to share with you. We don’t take your continued support for granted. We’re working incredibly hard to make something worthy of your patience."
