Love and Deepspace Developers Alert Players After Hazardous Cocktail Recipes Go Viral

The developers behind the popular RPG-dating simulation game Love and Deepspace took to their social media platform to caution players about fictional cocktail recipes that could lead to harmful real-life outcomes if attempted. On September 28, the game unveiled five cocktail recipes named ‘Shimmering Blend’ during an in-game event, each inspired by a charismatic character available for romance in the game. While visually appealing, these drinks should not be attempted, as they feature garnishes that are toxic to humans. One of the cocktails is crafted from pomegranate juice and garnished with cinnamon and datura, while another combines sweet peach juice with a flame lily garnish and gelatin sheets. Although pomegranate and peach juices are safe, the inclusion of these decorative plants has raised concerns among players about the possibility of someone trying to recreate these recipes in real life. Datura is known to be highly toxic and possesses psychoactive properties; ingesting it can lead to severe side effects such as delirium, fever, rapid heartbeat, and hallucinations. Similarly, flame lilies are hazardous, as every part of the plant contains colchicine, a substance that, while having medicinal uses, can be deadly. Symptoms of colchicine poisoning include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and potentially hypovolemic shock, which results in significant loss of blood and bodily fluids. It wasn't long before worried fans voiced their apprehensions about these dangerous ingredients, expressing fears that someone might actually attempt to craft the cocktails. Many commenters urged the Love and Deepspace account to remove the post entirely, with one remarking, "Delete this. This is literal poison. Nobody should make this." A user added, "Hey, some of these flowers are literally poisonous. Be cautious. This is incredibly reckless to share." Another echoed the sentiment, stating, "Don't attempt to recreate these drinks; they contain toxic plants! I can't believe this has been posted as 'recipes.'" In response to the growing outcry, the Love and Deepspace account quickly issued a follow-up message clarifying: "All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality." Amidst the discussions surrounding the cocktail controversy, fans also continued to share images of the canceled character Valko, who was announced but subsequently dropped before release. This led to a notable response from the community, with players creating shrines for the character and even rallying outside the developers' office to voice their support.
