Sony Alerts PlayStation Plus Users as GTA 5 Exits Library Just Before GTA 6 Launch

PS5 and PS4 gamers using PlayStation Plus to enjoy GTA 5 and GTA Online should take note: time is running out as the game will be removed from the service just two days before the debut of GTA 6 in November.

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users who have been enjoying GTA 5 and GTA Online through PlayStation Plus need to act fast, as the game is set to disappear from the service shortly. Specifically, GTA 5 will be removed from the PS Plus library on November 17, just two days prior to the highly-anticipated release of GTA 6. Since its launch in 2013, GTA 5 has achieved staggering sales of approximately 230 million copies, indicating that most gamers interested in Rockstar's expansive and vividly crafted depiction of Los Angeles have likely already experienced it. However, for those who haven’t, the clock is ticking, and they have until November 17 to access it via PS Plus. Sony has been proactive in notifying PS5 users about this impending change. A recent communication read, "If you’re eagerly waiting for GTA 6 to arrive on PS5 on November 19, why not explore Los Santos while you wait?" The message further stated, "GTA 5 is available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, but only until November 17. Whether you’re new to the adventures of Franklin, Michael, and Trevor, or you wish to revisit before diving into Jason and Lucia’s story in Vice City, now is the perfect opportunity." Along with this alert, users were prompted to consider preordering GTA 6, highlighting the monumental scale of Rockstar's upcoming sequel and its expected impact on sales for console providers like Sony. GTA 6 is projected to be the most expensive video game ever created, with expectations of recouping its investment quickly. Even celebrities like Kit Harington from Game of Thrones have expressed their enthusiasm for the game, despite not being avid gamers themselves. Rockstar's developers have undertaken research trips across Florida to ensure an authentic portrayal of the state in the game’s satirical representation of Miami and its surroundings. CBS recently aired a segment marveling at the game's impressive accuracy in depicting the locale. In a related note, the Australian government released a graphic informing citizens of their rights to take leave from work when GTA 6 launches next month. Meanwhile, Rockstar has ramped up its marketing efforts in Miami in anticipation of the game’s release. However, some Miami officials have voiced concerns regarding Rockstar's promotional activities, particularly its use of the iconic Goodyear blimp and collaborations with the local NBA team, the Miami Heat. Nevertheless, the momentum is unstoppable, with GTA 6 set to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on November 19.
