Dead by Daylight to Remove Chucky Content Just Months After Losing Michael Myers

Fans of Dead by Daylight are upset as Behaviour Interactive announces the discontinuation of Chucky content, set to begin next month.

The community of Dead by Daylight is currently in disarray after Behaviour Interactive revealed that all content related to Chucky will no longer be available for purchase starting next month. The developers of the popular asymmetrical horror game took to social media to confirm the decision to remove the Chucky Chapter from the marketplace. This announcement follows speculation that the iconic killer doll would soon exit the game, and the official statement reassured players that anyone who has already bought the related content will still have access to it after it is discontinued on November 24, 2026. "We welcomed The Good Guy out of his box and into The Fog nearly three years ago, but it's now time for the Chucky Chapter to leave the shelf," noted Behaviour. "On November 24, 2026, the Chapter and all associated content will be taken off in-game and first-party stores. Any content unlocked prior to that date will remain accessible in-game." According to an FAQ from the developers, the changes regarding the Chucky Chapter will have several implications for Dead by Daylight players. The character, referred to as The Good Guy, will no longer be available for purchase, although bug fixes will continue to be supported. Additionally, all outfits and cosmetics that have been released since his introduction in 2023 will also become unavailable, and no future expansions for the character will be created. For those who are fans of Chucky and have been contemplating a purchase, now is the time to act. To ease the transition for players facing the departure of one of Dead by Daylight's most distinctive Killers, Behaviour is initiating a sale on all items related to the Chucky Chapter beginning Monday, October 26. Dubbed the "Last Chance" sale, this event will last until November 24 and offers a 50% discount across all platforms. Dead by Daylight's roster of Killers has often been compared to 'horror Super Smash Bros.' by its fans, but Behaviour has experience with removing characters. For instance, Hellraiser's Pinhead was taken from digital stores in 2025 after joining in 2021, while Michael Myers—who was the first major Killer introduced after the game's 2016 launch—was removed this past January. Although Behaviour did not elaborate on the reasons behind the Chucky content's removal, players often speculate that licensing issues are the cause. The removal of Hellraiser and Halloween characters coincided with the announcement of new games in those franchises, suggesting that similar licensing complications might be at play here. The long-anticipated arrival of Jason Voorhees was also delayed for years due to licensing disputes, and the Demogorgon content from Stranger Things was previously removed before its return in 2023. While players who have acquired content that is being pulled can still use it post-removal, the impact is felt by the broader community. The inability to purchase content means that it may appear less frequently in gameplay, affecting those who enjoy the variety that new Killer abilities bring to Survivor matches. The recent trend of losing multiple Killers in a short timeframe has left many players feeling unsettled. "How do you keep losing licenses, bro?" questioned one fan, while another lamented the loss of access to a character with such a rich legacy and a plethora of skins. Despite the disappointment surrounding the departure of Chucky, Behaviour has been actively introducing new characters and franchise collaborations into the game. After adding Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul and Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's last year, the studio also brought in Vecna from Stranger Things. Jason was added earlier this summer, and next month, Terrifier's Art the Clown will make his entrance. While many licensed Killers have remained available for purchase, the duration of their availability continues to be uncertain.
