Atomfall, the UK Post-Apocalyptic Survival Game, to Be Adapted for Television
The survival game Atomfall, set in a post-apocalyptic UK, is set to make its way to television.
The survival game Atomfall, developed by Rebellion and rooted in a post-apocalyptic narrative, is set to be adapted into a television series. Drawing inspiration from the catastrophic Windscale incident of 1957, which marks the most severe nuclear accident in British history, Atomfall unfolds in the aftermath of a fictional nuclear catastrophe that has devastated a portion of the UK. Players engage in exploration, scavenging, crafting, bartering, and combat, all while traversing meticulously designed environments in pursuit of answers. The game recently won the title of Best British Game at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. The television adaptation will be co-produced by Rebellion alongside the British production company Two Brothers, known for their Emmy and Golden Globe accolades for acclaimed series like Fleabag and The Missing. The show aims to present a "distinctly British perspective" on the post-apocalyptic genre, set against the backdrop of a militarized Quarantine Zone in the scenic Lake District. While life outside the zone continues as usual, conditions inside have dramatically transformed into something much more unusual. Harry and Jack Williams will be responsible for the show's writing, with the duo and Alex Mercer from Two Brothers serving as executive producers. Jason and Chris Kingsley CBE, along with Ben Smith from Rebellion, will also take on executive production roles. As of now, details regarding the premiere date and streaming platforms for the series remain undisclosed, but updates will be provided as they become available. Atomfall has received a commendable rating of 8/10, described as a "Great" experience. In a review, it was noted that "Atomfall delivers a gripping post-apocalyptic survival narrative that adapts to your choices and explorations, regardless of your path."
