Diablo: Dawn of Hatred Enhances Sanctuary's Lore
Titan Comics collaborates with Blizzard to unveil Diablo: Dawn of Hatred, a new miniseries that delves deeper into the lore of Sanctuary. Explore our exclusive first look at the initial chapter.
Blizzard Entertainment has cultivated an intricate and expansive mythology within the Diablo universe, and now this lore is set to grow further through the medium of comics. In a new collaboration with Titan Comics, a four-issue miniseries titled Diablo: Dawn of Hatred is being launched. We are excited to present an exclusive sneak peek at Diablo: Dawn of Hatred #1, which you can view in the accompanying slideshow gallery. The miniseries is penned by Cullen Bunn, known for his work on Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, with illustrations by Daniele Serra, recognized for the Hellraiser Anthology, and colors by Jovanna Plata, who has contributed to The Black Monday Murders. The inaugural issue features artwork from a variety of cover artists, including Adam Gorham, Nick Marinkovich, Dev Pramanik, and Andrea Olimpieri. The official synopsis of the series provides insight into its plot: Akarat, the revered figure whose teachings gave rise to the Zakarum faith, has come back from the dead. He asserts that his resurrection is to promote peace, love, and the Light. His miraculous powers have healed the leader of the Fox Tribe, leading these barbarians to become his staunchest supporters—except for one, Derris. Despite his tribe's devotion to Akarat and the Light, Derris remains wary, aware that the cycle of violence will eventually engulf Sanctuary once again. This sentiment is echoed by the enigmatic Vrexia, another skeptic who has joined Akarat’s following. When assassins arrive with the intent to kill Akarat, Derris faces a critical choice: save the holy figure or witness his people’s demise. Diablo: Dawn of Hatred #1 is set to hit the shelves on April 22, 2026, and interested readers can place preorders through Titan Comics or at their local comic book retailers. In other Diablo news, Blizzard recently celebrated the franchise's 30th anniversary, revealing that a new Warlock class will be introduced in both Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo IV.
